The event

On August 12, for just over a minute and a half, day will switch off over Soria.

It's the first total solar eclipse visible from mainland Spain since 1905. The path of totality crosses Galicia, Castile and León, Aragón, Catalonia and the Balearics. Miradomos sits inside that path, in northern Soria.

Totality arrives at sunset, around 20:30 CEST, with the Sun just a few degrees above the western horizon. That turns a clean horizon into a technical — not aesthetic — requirement to see totality. In most lodgings, hills, trees and buildings will block it.

And on top of that: the Perseid meteor shower peaks that same night. Inside the Castile and León Starlight Reserve, with no light pollution. Eclipse at sunset; meteors until dawn.

Views of totality
The path of totality

Inside the line, not next to it.

The path of totality is about 290 km wide. Being inside it is the difference between seeing a total eclipse (sky darkens, solar corona appears) and seeing a very deep partial (impressive, but not the same). Miradomos sits inside the band — not on its edge.

Getting here

2 hours from Madrid. Closer than you think.

Soria is historically one of central Spain's best-connected destinations by road. You're here in 2 hours from Madrid; in 1h 45min from Zaragoza.

Madrid
~2 h

A-2 to Medinaceli, then A-15.

Zaragoza
~1 h 45

A-68 + N-122. Straight in.

Bilbao
~3 h

A-1 to Burgos, then N-234.

Barcelona
~4 h

AP-2 / A-2 to Soria.

We recommend arriving on August 11: there will be heavy traffic toward the path of totality on the afternoon of the 12th.

What to bring

Just the essentials. The rest is already here.

For the Bell Tent

Just your clothes for day and night. Sheets, blankets and furniture, we provide.

For the pitch

Your tent, sleeping bag and mat. Bathrooms and showers are shared.

For the eclipse

Certified glasses are provided. Binoculars with a solar filter are nice, but not required.

For the Perseids

A hoodie. The Soria plateau cools down at night, even in August.

FAQ

What people usually ask before booking.

How many people sleep in a Bell Tent?
Built for 2: double bed and furniture for a comfortable couple's stay. It's not a family lodging.
Does the Bell Tent have a bathroom inside?
No. Bathrooms and showers are in a shared building under 50 m away. That's what lets us offer premium Bell Tents with a clean horizon — we don't build services inside because they'd break the view.
Minimum stay?
The night of August 12-13 is always included (it's the product). You can add nights before or after at the adjacent-night rate. We recommend arriving on the 11th to avoid traffic.
Can children come?
Children are welcome at pitches, under their adults' responsibility. The premium Bell Tents are configured for 2 adults.
Pets?
Yes at pitches, under the guest's control. Not inside the Bell Tents.
Are the certified glasses for real?
Yes. They meet ISO 12312-2:2015, the only valid standard for direct solar observation. Handed out at check-in.
Accessibility?
The terrain is flat but reaching the Bell Tent and viewing point includes 30-50 m of natural grass. If you have reduced mobility, get in touch before booking and we'll adapt.
Why so expensive?
Honestly: because the location meets a difficult technical condition — inside the path of totality, clean western horizon, in one of Europe's lowest-light-pollution regions. The price reflects the location, not the tent. And it only applies to the night of August 12 — if you want to extend the stay, get in touch and we'll talk.
